Epsteinbd, I could easily have been on that boat. It was not an empty boat.

There were two bombs [limpet mines]. After the first, everyone abandoned ship. The photographer, presumably thinking it wasn't sinking all that fast, decided to get his equipment. Ooops a daisy, the frog men and woman hadn't finished. Another explosion and down he went with the boat.

Where did you get the idea that the boat was empty? Where did you get the idea that they telephoned a warning?

How about I blow up your house, after giving you a "highly civilized" warning? Your idea about the "highly civilized" barbaric animals is short on ethics.

You have obviously fallen for propaganda intended to make heroes of the terrorist criminals. Following orders to murder wasn't considered a suitable defence for Nazis and isn't any better for Mitterand and his murderers.

You are naive to think that New Zealand wasn't targeted. Remember the context of the time. The original idea was to sink the Rainbow Warrior in open sea. I wonder if it was simply a bit too gory for the planners or they thought it would be more fun to do it right in Auckland Harbour to really stick it to the Kiwis.

I'm sure you understand that it wasn't exactly a hardened, cruise missile armed frigate - it was a Greenpeace boat. The French military thugs, as with so many military types, are particularly brave and tough when showing unarmed civilians who is boss. They did some enthusiastic beating up at other times.

There are civilized ways of handling dissenting civilians who try to enter property which is off-limits. Murder isn't considered good form [outside some of the more barbaric states around the world, which obviously includes France].

They did indeed target New Zealand. They committed murder. State-sponsored terrorist murder. The voters of France are responsible.

There have been two terrorist attacks in New Zealand. Apart from the cowardly French, the other was a suitcase bomb in a trade union corridor, killing a caretaker; more cowardice.

The Socialist Workers Organisation points out some interesting things [but doesn't realize that their enthusiasm for statism is the source of the problem]: converge.org.nz
Google gave me that when I looked for Ernie the caretaker being murdered.

So France can boast of being in company with murdering a caretaker, as one of two terrorist agents in New Zealand. How pathetic. It's stuff like that that earns a country contempt. France used to have high status in the world. Maybe they should buy "How to win friends and influence people".
