Now that I see the whole thing, it does appear that he missed the fact that this alleged investment proposal came in May, before the investor could have known about the bogus accounting. The fact that the investing world still thought that WCOM was a profitable company when this proposal was supposedly made at least calls into question whether the investor would still be interested in the industry.

OTOH, if someone wants to inject some new capital into WCOM in a way that will allow existing shareholders to not get entirely wiped out, I certainly wouldn't turn it away.
