Father Terrence, I have analyzed Johnny's recent post to the webmistress, and have found it to be confusing in its original intent. It looks like he was TRYING to appeal for forgiveness, but was not quite contrite enough. He got halfway into a rather appealing fantasy where he was about to lick Jill's . . . um, boot, and then got altogether too rational again.
Just as a sympathetic and reasonable woman's heart (and loins) might be softening to his plight and the pathetic sight of him down on his Randian knees, begging, he snaps and starts ranting about the Mighty and Esteemed Galt again. The words "amicable resolution" sure would stop all the in-progress sexual festivities around me in a flash, and I think I am pretty normal and average in this regard. I could say that is exactly why I prefer cucumbers, which have no voice, but that would be silly, and this is a very serious post.
Several people on the Feelings thread have made it perfectly clear that they are not at all enveloped by any feelings of missing Johnny at all, and simply protested his ouster because of the principle of freedom of speech. Skipper and I seem to be the only ones who really miss him, and while I don't know exactly how Skipper feels, I only miss Johnny when he is being flawed and human and egalitarian and a little raw and rough and passionate.
Please communicate to Johnny that I would be interested in hearing his version of the story of his demise here. I doubt that this can still be straighted out but I am an eternal optimist (when I am not the saddest person in the world), and am certainly willing to use the Feelings thread constructively, to keep this out in the open. I don't like things that are FESTERING, and this one seems to be, so it would be nice to have some sort of a healing process taking place.
