If the allegation is true that Elgindy helped the FBI then this certainly could be a point in his favor, but before everybody here excepts this allegation as the gospel truth keep in mind that more than likely this information came from Elgindy's defense lawyer.

I find myself wondering how Elgindy would go about looking for 'funny trades' in a manner that would be helpful to the FBI above and beyond what any knowledgeable broker could do. It seems to me the only method available to him would be to to look at the charts of companies that were down on heavy short-sales placed before 9/11. I imagine in any given day there are several hundred companies that fit this description.

You guys have ignored my advice before, but I'll give it again anyway. Before you (and monyemadetrader) leap to conclusions why don't you wait and see what kind of evidence the trial provides?

I'll agree with you guys that the Prosecutor has 'hyped' this affair to some extent. Please consider the possibility that the defense lawyer is not above doing the same thing.
