THAT [your very last sentence], Eric, is the crux of the "problem".
Was, has been, and continues to be the "problem".
The issue is not with Schmidt. The issue is with JOHN YOUNG, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, AND THE "INFLUENCE" that is ever-present.
Why, oh why do you think I and the others tried so hard to oust that BOD?
Unless and until Schmidt can demonstrate that he is, in fact, IN CHARGE without his hands being tied, then it does not matter one iota what he says he will do. THEY --- (YOUNG, BOD, AND THE "INFLUENCE") are running this company into the ground.
Can ANYONE give a counter argument to that? I'd love to hear it at this point. And not the "we will", "we are", "we have", kind of argument. FACTUAL demonstration of a strategy, both for PR, Marketing, and a TIMETABLE. I still haven't seen anything of that nature. Only "lip-service". A company in this bad shape cannot afford to just give "lip-service". A company in this shape needs "deliverables". Real deliverables. For Q3 there are none. What about for Q4 Eric? Where are the "deliverables"? Where is the "high-powered" marketing team? Where is the PR? Where is an advertising campaign? Where is a President and COO? Where is the "plan"? Etc., etc., etc.
Where is it? What have you seen in the "Rags" over the last 3-4 weeks?
Of any substance? Only bad stuff, right? Where are the "counterstrikes"? Where is the damage control that should've been done on the NDS/IBM announce? Where is it? *I* can't find it. Can you?
The BOD must change in order for:
a) any movement in momentum for this company or
b) the company MUST be "allowed" to be shopped
PERIOD.
Every indicator that [I] see points to the negative side of the equation.
Eric, I have tried to get "positive" again and again over the last month or so. I said it . I tried. I see what is happening, and if one looks at the situation "very objectively", and unemotionally, it is extremely difficult to draw any other conclusion.
This will "play out" eventually. Everything does. And I hope you are correct. I really do.
Again, I'm not shorting or advocating shorting or "bashing" for that matter. I'm calling them as I see them. I would "love" to be called 100% "wrong Joe".
