Both timelines are excellent ways to look at secrecy and unanswered questions. Set aside the editorial and let the chips fall where they may.

Another data point, I've sent emails on the fact that Bush Senior was said to be in the White House on the morning of the 9/11 attack, and left DC at about 2pm. This was reported by Tim Russert on live tv while standing in front of the WH during 24hr coverage. I hope there's an archival video of Bush Senior addressing the Petroleum Council the next day, smiling and relaxed, concerned more about the political fallout for Junior not coming back to DC right away, than anything else.
