That's your position. Mine is that the harder line was necessary to ensure that a real solution that is acceptable to us can be reached. Saddam has thumbed his nose at, and the UN has backed down from every demand it has made on Iraq over the last 11 years. Starting with more of the same would not work because the UN had squandered its credibility. Why would anyone expect another demand to work if it came from the UN without a credible threat of military action to back it up?
