Dear Petz:

I think that the real reason for the delay is simple, they want to feed the new Tbred core design changes back into both Barton and the Hammers. A 300 to 400 MHz jump in Hammer clock speeds (or a 15 to 30% reduction in power usage) would change a 3400+ CH to a range of 4000+ to 4600+. Notice that mobile Hammer did not change ship dates. With the backflush of the design, Clawhammer might be able to reduce power to run at 3400+ for mobile work at the 35W design point out of the gate. 15W and 25W design points will also see that speed boost.

I hope that they would show us full speed benchmarks just before Christmas 2002 (if wishes were money, we'd all be filthy rich).

Pete
