Besides, if the Israelis had been asked beforehand for their preference, they would have suggested Iran as a target. Iran is funding Hizbullah to the tune of $100 million a year, and Hizbullah now has free rein to do pretty much what it likes in Syria and Lebanon. Hizbullah has been setting up lines of Katyushas and shelling Northern Israel and is generally spoiling for a fight. Now Lebanon is diverting one of the sources of water into Lake Kinneret, and Sharon has called this a casus belli. Only a matter of time before Israel goes to war on its Northern border.

Of course, once the anti-Iraq sabre rattling started, Saddam did his best to raise the flame under the Israeli-Pal conflict ($25,000 for the families of suicide bombers, etc.). This naturally makes the Israelis impatient for Bush to get on with it.
