A reader would take the 'and' in your original statement below to mean both of them supported, participated, and contributed. This time the quotation you cite displays a politician spinning his wares. I have already stated most belong to this group... tell the people (majority of voters that is) what they want to hear. Many will bite. It's funny if Ashcroft takes the other side he'd be labeled a monster, now he's labeled wholly disingenuous. Founding Fathers obviously condoned slavery but I have previously pointed out there was more than one issue so not every Conf. General was fighting exclusively to keep slavery. In any event, there is still no real credible evidence presented to make your initial assertion applicable to them both, so I appreciate your backing off from this proposition.

<I believe that there is credible evidence that Bush's appointee as Attorney General, Ashcroft, and Minority Leader Lott have supported white supremacy organizations and participated in their meetings and contributed to their journals.>
