The Thoroughbreds are looking far better than they did a month ago - if we weren't expecting Hammer so soon, this would have been the news we were focusing on.

It may be that what happened was that when Intel accelerated their roadmap, it forced AMD to put resources into accelerating Thoroughbred/Barton. AMD just couldn't do both at once, and AMD couldn't afford to let the Socket A platform wither, since it's their only current hit product, and so they had to delay the production ramp of Hammer. Trying to do it all, all at once, could very well have left them with nothing. A decision had to be made, and Ruiz made it.
