Sorry, Richard, but no. It is a commonly known fact in the industry that America's penchant for low karat jewelry has made us the laughing stock of Australiasian and Caribbean retail consumers just for starters. God bless Madison Avenue's sales pitch. We cut gold overhere like we cut heroin I'm afeared....

I tried responding to your 10Kt question last night, but had a computer glitch...apparently a tomcat walked on my modem connection and there went the ole dialtone thingy.

Anyhow, the words you are missing is that it is legal to call 10Kt SOLID Gold. And that is funny funny funny in a world of American consumerism where we are still "entertained" on TV with Cheese and Macaroni commercials from Kraft. Never will forget the old FTC legal challenge over Pork and Beans in the heyday of Americana and beanie wienie meals.

RE: 9kt gold...that is just another holdover from our European past, an appendix type vestige of earlier European jewelry influences here. Many a Victorian bauble in this country is stamped 9kt...and brings handsome prices in the estate sale circuit, where 9kt is a badge of honor so to speak.

Hope you have a minute to take a stab at my G&S stocks thread question and share your thoughts on PAAS' next target when it finally Jonah's up BAY and moves on. Might be a quick buck for you there...
