Why Can't the CIA Keep Up with the New Yorker?

My impression is that it's well known that Al Qaeda and similar organizations have ties with Islamists in Northern Iraq who are tied in with the Iranians. Do a google search on "Ansar al-Islam." You'll turn up articles by the Christian Science Monitor, the Washington Times, CNN . . .

The question is, what are we supposed to do about it?

Bush stated in his speech to the UN that Iraq is sheltering Al Qaeda. However I believe it's not well nailed down that Saddam has any control over that area. It's in the No Fly zone, which is not under Saddam's control. Thus, tieing them to 9/11 would be a stretch.

I expect that we'll clean them out eventually. But the CIA has a limited number of swarthy ethnic types who speak the local lingo, and they are doing other things right now, is my guess.
