Interestingly we have put quite a bit of junk into low earth orbit as well. The so-called "space debris" problem is a concern for some of the larger scale satellite systems--a fair number of them will collide with the junk and be damaged or destroyed.

I've always had trouble with the concept that humans and their works can be considered "unnatural" since we arise from the same stew (or hand of God, if one prefers) as all the other organisms. There are those pesky free will questions, but then it's not like anybody ever asked for it to be that way. At least I didn't. The things we do may be not be all that aesthetically pleasing but I think they're "natural".

I guess I can seque to Ayn Rand, who sees mountains and thinks about granite slabs for office buildings. Perhaps those recipes could include some reinforcement.
