Canada has a population 1/10th that of the USA. Canada's GDP is currently growing at a rate of 4:1 compared to the USA. Though Canada's tax base is 1/10 that of the USA we still manage to maintain a reletively high standard of living. This and the fact that Canada has a huge infrastructure to maintain to support the population vis a vis the great land mass. That to me is strength.
