I see -- so the US strategy was this: take a position that no other government could possibly support and then use that as a way to get those governments to fall into line later. Face it, the US makes mistakes from time to time, and pushing regime change for the last nine months has been a bad strategy. We had the whole world with us after 9/11 -- there was nothing to be gained by losing their support. The fact that we lost support of almost the entire world in one year is mind-boggling. This was not necessary and it is absurd to think it somehow helps us or was part of a well-considered US strategy.
