I saw a Segway rolling up a hill on a sidwalk in downtown Seattle today.

Just after finishing my jury duty (not guilty, but we had a chance to meet with the defendant after the trial and we admonished him to take an anger-management class), I headed out of the King County Courthouse to have lunch, and as I walked up a hill past the police department garage door, I saw a gentleman with a backpack leisurely roll up the sidewalk toward the top of the hill and then stop and wait for the light to change.

I goggled frankly (though I did not approach the rider), but the interesting thing was that I seemed to be the only one goggling. The sidewalks were busy but not jammed, and the scooter seemed to create no "traffic problems for the pedestrians on the sidewalk, and no one besides me seemed to give it more than a second glance. People seemed to take it as much for granted (if not more so) than someone on a bicycle or rollerblades.

FWIW that's the Segway news from Seattle.
