Yeah ... and without healthy banks making nickel and dime profits just to keep you and your 'everyone should be poor and happy' philiosophy beatnicks maybe Canada and it's economy wouldn't languish about. Face it ... your missing the boat ... without our restrictive rules a company like BMO could have shot for the moon and seriously looked at Mellon Bank to expand Harris. But no ... you want to sit there and complain about 1$ Interac charges ... the performance of the banks should be admired : in many cases they're outdoing high flying techno-garbage and those cute little mining plays. No one stops you from starting your own trust firm ... no one stops you from keeping your money at home in a mattress. I'll sum up by saying that as an aggressive holder of the big six ever since I started investing, I care more about their performance and integrity than you.
If being a sheep means competing internationally, thinking for myself and building real wealth then we are better of than wallowing by the slaughterhouse door.

And as for Mulroney ... you can say whatever you want ... I never really liked his style but anyone who denies that the policies of the Conservatives (the Wilson boring days) in the 1980's are the underpinning of the 'Maple-Leaf' miracle is not thinking objectively. The strength of the economy and the structural changes didn't happen without foresight.
