Not to belabor this particular discussion, but I looked up a couple more things. This picture shows the teleprompter pretty clearly: graphics7.nytimes.com

Here's one from Yahoo showing teleprompter #2 on the other side: story.news.yahoo.com

And here's one from a previous UN speech: msnbc.com

Google turned up this bird's eye view from another occasion: usnews.com

If you want to really beat it to death, you can view the video at whitehouse.gov , this seems to require realplayer. From the bits I looked at, there seem to be 3 fixed angles W homes in on, he doesn't seem to exactly scan the audience.

Anyway, making a lot of W's delivery here seems, well, pretty cosmetic. W has shown himself to be reasonably coachable on stuff like this, his trademark smirk is mostly gone, in prepared situations anyway. And it's not like he doesn't have coachs, or they didn't have time to prepare him on this one. The handlers still seem pretty devoted to avoiding much in the way of spontaneous exposure, like press conferences. Stuff like that is a little tougher.
