AMERICA'S BIG SWINGING OIL SLICK DICK

Suma,

I was aghast last year when the Bushista junta deliberately tried to sabotage the rapprochement between Seoul and Pyongyang. While the Koreans were delightfully meeting relatives they hadn't seen in 50 years across the DMZ, the neocons were scheming to keep the phony impression in our media about what an evil empire North Korea is. It was a total lie and a fabrication designed to justify bloated military budgets. The presence of our troops on the 38th Parallel on the Korean Peninsula has much less to do with any actual threat the North Koreans pose than it does with the imperial ambitions of the military-industrial complex. The same can be said about that other major locus of U.S. imperial dominance, Okinawa. There too, the rape of the local woman incenses the native population. But our military steadfastly turns a blind eye to the crimes, because the brass hats can enjoy some really terrific golf courses there that simply are unavailable stateside.

If you get a chance to read Chalmers Johnson's "Blowback" please jump at it. It's a wonderfully intelligent commentary on our imperial policies, with a focus on the Okinawa situation. Written before 9/11, it gave a perfect description of exactly how and why we would suffer such an attack. Prescience is something Chalmers shares with the NSC staff who alerted Shrubbo WadDog about the imminent terror threats on August 6, 2001. The Bush mal-Administration's failure to act upon this knowledge is something that we need to demand accountability for.

Ritter is correct. Richard Butler is a liar; he's also an agent for the CIA. But that's being redundant, now isn't it?

PEACE NOW! -Ray
