Do you think Chretien ever thinks why Canada needs only to spend 1.3% of its gross national product for military purposes compared to 4% for the U.S.? Do you think an unbreakable friendship and common border maybe the answer?

I have great respect for the Canadian people. No two countries in the world share a closer bond then the U.S. and Canada. We are brothers from the same family. We share a common heritage and more importantly we share the same common western values. However, I could not help feeling with friends like Chretien who needs enemies.

If you read between the lines Chretien blames 911 on the U.S. It is kind of like blaming the rape victim for the rape.

The U.S. is in a no-win situation. If problems arise in the world and the U.S. does not involve its self; it is accused of not doing its part as a world leader. But if the U.S flexes its muscles it is accused of being a bully and is described as rich and insensitive. Do you think Canada is a rich county? A country with little if any living under the poverty line.

I’m sure Bush would gladly turn over his role as the leader of the free world. I get the feeling that Chretien is not up to the task.

Did I hear correctly that the leader of the Canadian Alliance Party called Chretien's comments “shameful”? Maybe it is all politics. Liberal Chretien just could not help himself from dumping on a conservative U.S. administration. But what I liked is that Bush did not even ask for Chretien support. Why should he? He saw which way the wind was blowing. Plus by not asking for support it did not give Chretien the satisfaction of saying no to Bush.

I’ve lived in Maine or upstate New York my whole life. Therefore, my proximity to the Canadian border at least gives me a little leeway in saying; when push comes to shove I believe the freedom loving Canadian people will support the U.S.

But in the end it is the unwavering support the U.S. gives Israel that is the rub, eh?
