More on cheapskate benefits in Prague: Found my way on the trams to the soccer stadium last evening and found that for 30 crowns (about $1.55) you can get a plate with a big greasy brat, a puddle of mustard, a slice of rye bread, and a half-litre of excellent beer. Did it twice.

Funny, I've worn exactly the same clothes to the opera and the stadium and felt only slightly underdressed at the first and only slightly overdressed at the second.

On the whole everyone is helpful and friendly (except for museum guards) and people are trying to learn English as fast as possible, Czech not being many people's second language.

Hard to tell how durable their democracy and prosperity may be. It's never lasted very long before--at least not since the 18th century.
