I am a bit of a believer in the conspiracy theory on this, that is, that the really rich control these markets and "steal" from the poor, that is from us. They do this by psychology, by luring the money into gold and then taking the stocks down, luring the money into the Dow and then reversing that and taking gold up(after buying the gold shares here from those who cannot hold on and pay the rent or eat). When gold goes it finally snaps up locking us out and the public comes back in at 800 dollar gold(or 8000 dow?) So if you buy that theory, the recovery will be staged by those who make the BIG money out of it but most smaller players caught out at first base. I agree with your rags to riches comment and am fairly sure that is about to happen to the 401k plans of the entire baby boom generation. So no retirement for the unsophisticated which is 99% of the 401k holders. I say hold onto our gold shares and buy more here if we can.
