MER - MID-EAST REALITIES - www.MiddleEast.Org - Washington - 9/16/2002: To really get a grip on understanding what the Americans are up to these days in the middle east and in world affairs, Robert Fisk is must reading. Fisk is the Western correspondent who has actually lived for the longest time in the Middle East. For 25 years, based out of Beirut, Fisk has relentless and courageously uncovered and exposed the often deeply disguised and hidden realities of what is truly happening in that region...and the reasons why. In recent years Fisk has by necessity come to focus more and more on the hypocrisy and duplicity of the United States along with its stable of Arab 'client regimes' sponsored throughout the region; as well of course as the crucial role America's protege Israel plays in the affairs of the area. Fisk's speech at George Mason University last Tuesday evening, on the eve of the 9/11 anniversary, was a tour de force of both the region's history and problems as well as of the real roles played by the U.S. and Israel in attempting to continually manipulate and control the region. That speech, featured this week by MER, can be watched at middleeast.org. And an exclusive 2-hour interview of Fisk by MER's Mark Bruzonsky a few years ago is available in the MERTV archives at www.MERTV.Org.
