Well said, Jewel. I can recall some apologies I've made on SI which were truly heartfelt and some others where my heart just wasn't in it, a la Clinton. If one parsed the words of the latter, rationalizations could be found that obviate the sincerity of the apology. Stubborn people have a hard time convincing themselves that they've done wrong.
