SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Integrated Device Technology Inc. here today acquired Canada's Solidum Systems Inc., a provider of classification and network processors, for an undisclosed price.

Solidum brings technology expertise and intellectual property to the party, which is complementary to IDT's packet-processing and content-addressable memory (CAM) products.

Ottawa-based Solidum offers a family of programmable classification processors that can be configured to inspect and classify packets in applications at up to OC-48 line rates.

"This acquisition allows us to strengthen our packet-processing offering and extend our existing partnership with Solidum," said Greg Lang, IDT's president and CEO-elect, in a statement. "Their deep packet classification technology is synergistic with our existing search engine capabilities and positions IDT to not only accelerate, but also add more intelligence to packet processing."
