According my reliable source about the initial BT/MCI/GTE talks in
last December, GTE was kicked out by BT at the last minute because BT
had the first right of refusal. I believe the current noise between BT
and MCI could be just another BT's jesture game which BT is trying to
use MCI's $800M loss news to take care of some ORGANIZATION issues.
But I hope BT/MCI recognizes that if ATT or Cable & Wireless gets hold
of GTE. They are going to be SOL in the future.
