Brooks-PRI Kicks Off New Seminar Series on Equipment Integration in 300mm Fabs

First sessions to be held in California and Taiwan in Fall 2002
Tuesday September 17, 12:09 pm ET

CHELMSFORD, Mass., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Brooks-PRI Automation, Inc. (Nasdaq: BRKS - News), which delivers total automation for semiconductor manufacturing, today announced a new seminar series intended to help semiconductor manufacturers and their equipment suppliers navigate the complex terrain of tool integration in state-of-the-art 300mm wafer fabs. The three-day, in-depth series, entitled "300mm Standards: Communication Interfaces," is intended to educate attendees on the intricacies of SEMI 300mm automation and equipment interface standards to help equipment suppliers get their tools qualified faster, and help semiconductor manufacturers get their 300mm fabs ramped up to production as quickly as possible.
"It is widely acknowledged that tool qualification and integration pose a significant risk to 300mm fab ramp-up schedules, and that delays will have a negative impact on fab profitability," said Guy Davis, Certification Control Systems (CCS) Services Manager for Brooks-PRI, a 15-year veteran of the semiconductor industry who as manager of Equipment Integration for a leading chip maker directed equipment integration for the world's first fully integrated 300mm fab. "It is imperative that technical managers, project leaders, and engineers understand 300mm standards and the complex interactions between these standards. In addition, device manufacturers and equipment OEMs must be able to demonstrate proficiency in operational scenarios to support and implement effective equipment integration. This seminar series will address those topics as well as highlight potential problem areas within 300mm standards to help speed the qualification and integration process for all."

"300mm Standards: Communication Interfaces" is taught by Brooks-PRI experts such as Davis with decades of experience in fabs, including in-depth experience in 300mm fabs. As automation leaders, Brooks-PRI instructors were invited to participate in industry standards creation via their associations with SEMI and International Sematech. The seminar provides their insider perspective on the latest standards, and introduces attendees to an automated method proven to cut tool test times in half. Attendees will leave the seminar with a firm understanding of current and upcoming requirements and reference material that serves as a how-to guide back on the fab floor.

Upcoming sessions of "300mm Standards: Communication Interfaces" include:

-- Mountain View, Calif., Oct. 22-24, 2002
-- Hsinchu, Taiwan, Nov. 19-21, 2002

Special introductory pricing is available for these two initial sessions. For more information, visit brooks-pri.com or send email to ccs-training@brooks-pri.com.
