i think gulf war one was a bit different...first of all, sadaam had invaded another country, and a second significant arab country, saudi arabia, probably had the willies about being invaded at some point down the road. second of all, when you actually invade another country, it seems to me it'd be easier to form such a coalition...we actually have a more treacherous world situation now, and i think the lack of a coalition is not Bush's fault but that the other countries have their head in the sand...it is almost as if there is some element of, he's really just a loudmouth clown who doesn't have much and won't follow through...

i think countries such as Russia, China are jockeying for some power in all of this but will eventually (perhaps reluctantly) be supportive of some sort of action. perhaps, with France (very off the wall?), perhaps France is concerned about its Muslim population and is speaking carefully ? i always thought that in gulf war one, Jordan was saying one thing publically and acting or speaking differently behind closed doors...
