The problem, of course, is that the trend is towards a proliferation of so many laws that everyone is in violation at some point, and in fear of the government. Government officials and employees will never say so, but of course they like this arrangement.
"Dependent on DC", by C. Twight, describes this trend wonderfully, ongoing for many decades. Highly recommended reading.
Governor Ventura seemed to me like a good-natured dummy, until I once heard him say as he walked through the state law library that he asked what all the laws were for ... After some explanations and examples he then requested that every year a percentage be reviewed and removed from the books.
Definitely a non-politician, and conservative in the classic sense. We need more of those, if any can be found, and I don't care if they are ex-professional wrestlers, at this point.
Unfortunately, 98% of all politicians, employees and contractors at fed and state are in favor of greater government encroachment, by law, taxation and media control.
