My pleasure in the vernacular is doubly pleased by the vernacular of the military. Don't know why, maybe it's just gallows humor. The sniper slogan, "No need to run, you'll only die tired" is one that tickles me. So is the Marine slogan "Kill them all, let God sort them out." And another Marine slogan, "When it absolutely, positively, has to be destroyed overnight."

Yesterday, I found a new one at a gun store - a photo of the USS Nimitz, with the slogan "90,000 tons of diplomacy." Can't find a link exactly right but here is the Nimitz. Isn't she beautiful?

We have good reasons to be proud of our military, and to want our military to be proud of themselves.

But we can't forget that thinking outside the box with a box cutter or a dinghie can lay our plans to waste. So we need to think even further outside the box, first.
