It almost appears as if Kim Jong is trying to bring the turtle out of its shell.
They have to get straight with Japan, first. That story about them admitting the abduction of Japanese is unbelievable. Governments just don't do that. We are pretty sure, for instance, that a few captured American Pilots during the Korean War were moved to Russia, interrogated, and then either killed or imprisoned until their death. But even now Russia will not admit it. A couple may have had this fate from Vietnam, also.
So for North Korea to admit this is real big, IMO. I would surely love to see us get our men out of Korea. The last number I can verify (CSIS), is 37,000. They are an enormous expense to maintain. Cato Institute reports it as above Thirteen Billion a year.
We also have over 24,000 troops in Okinawa. They have got to be running us Ten Billion. And we have 47,000 in Japan. add another fifteen Billion. Hey, the first thing you know, we are spending real money. And we have enough troops here to do "Iraq War lite." |
