Sam, I agree with most of you stated, the difference is that in the past, those policies where
obfuscated" and this time, there is quite some clarity of purpose. I may not agree with the administration "acquiring" the right to determine what kind of regime other sovereign countries have, but you must admit, it cannot be clearer that the stated goal of "Regime Change". In the past we engaged a lot in "regime change", but never openly stated that as our goal, it was always carried out in stealth, and too often with disastrous results. Maybe the clarity of purpose and process openess will make such a change more peaceful.
