Apple's biggest problem...
is ego. They are a talented bunch, who create great products. Unfortunately because of their egos the are slow to admit the duds that drag down the company.
Examples:
o Hockey Puck mouse loved by a vocal 5%, hated by the rest, retained by stubborn egotistical designers over 2 years to the delight of WinTel o Lack of a two button mouse resisted by 5%, wanted by the rest o QT interface screw up and annoyware screen o Crappy Dock, useless Genie and shadows that slow down OSX, instead of useful colored, labeled files and folders or tabbed windows. Tabbed windows beat the dock by a mile. In fact this is the biggest mistake of all, IMHO, the languishing interface. Macs have always been known as the GUI king until OSX. Of course there are the usual 5% who love the dock because it's "cool" but most would prefer useful stuff to useless junk, once exposed to the useful stuff. Ironically Microsoft’s poorer but steadily improving interface is Apples biggest threat. If Microsoft gets the interface right(including plug and pray)... it's simple... they win. o And of course the biggie: Refusal to license until it was too late
o Using Motorola processors |
