Jim, I just now got around to reading Jim Puplava's Sep 17 market wrap-up, "Bad News Everywhere".

financialsense.com The following paragraph caught my attention:

The question is will this remain a conventionally fought war? The markets are betting on a quick victory. I’m not so sure they are right. I’ll end with the words spoken by an Austrian writer Karl Kraus and the Italian political philosopher Niccolo Machiavelli. Kraus wrote, “How is the world ruled and how do wars start? Diplomats tell lies to journalists and then believe what they read.” This describes the policies of appeasement pursued by the UN. Machiavelli warned of the consequences when he spoke, “One ought never to allow a disorder to take place in order to avoid war, for war is not thereby avoided, but only deferred to your own disadvantage.”

Hold that thought while we take a look at another extract from a link from Ike Iqbal's thread:

IMHO, those that accuse Bush 43 of merely wanting to take care of the unfinished business of 41, are not being honest with themselves.....jj
