Re: "But the issue you originally raised was that rich persons are driving your taxes up - which is the OPPOSITE of the truth."

Not "rich persons," but "rich, unethical persons."

Who or what is putting the squeeze on middle-class taxes? (a) The single-mom waitress with two kids who only reports two-thirds of her tips at work? (b) Companies like Enron that only pay federal taxes one year in five? (c) The guy worth $200 million whose tax guru has placed most of his liquid assets in dubious tax shelters, creative life insurance schemes and offshore accounts?

The answer is B and C.

Which leads me to my next point: Most tax cheats necessarily are people of wealth, because middle-class and economically disadvantaged people do not have the incentive or means or opportunity to push the envelope on significantly lowering taxable income.

The more I think about it, the more the idea of a flat tax makes sense ... if it force all people and all corporations to pay their fair share.

No exceptions.
