Sorry to nose in like this BUT, Paul, do you really think that market timing is foolhardy? Please tell that to George Soros, Mark Strome, Julian Robertson, Mark Kingdon, Jeffrey Vinik, Stanely Druckenmiller (the king of timing) Vic Sperandeo, Dr. Alexander Elder and all the other traders profiled in Market Wizards 1 & 2. How about a guy named Thomas Dorsey the master implementer of point & figure analysis that clearly gets investors into and out of sectors on a timely basis. Again sorry to butt in, but GET REAL, Market TIMING works well if you have the correct tools. This is not to say that technical analysis is the only thing one should use, i could show you many (what appears to be) fundamentally sound companies with brokers yelling "STRONG BUY" and the technicals saying "get the heck out" and guess whos right? It is my opinion that a stock should be looked at fundamentally first and then look at the technicals to determine the underlying supply and demand attributes of the stock in question.
