I can assure you, CB, everybody could - given a chance - experience this kind of shift in his or her perceptions.

Hi DJ - you're right, of course.

One of the nicest things about the Internet is getting to talk to intelligent people who are really aware. I know people like that in the real world but one can never know too many.

I think it's much nicer than Mq's fantasy of It and much more likely, too.

I spent the evening researching artificial intelligence for Ben, my older, because he needs to apply to colleges. The biggest funder is the Department of Defense, ARPA, which of course also funded the Internet. They like the idea of smart weapons.

I don't like the idea of Schwabians with helms and schmiessers with their hands on smart weapons. But my impression is that we don't let many people like that into our military anymore. My impression is that being in the military these days is interesting. Which I think is really strange.

Not bad strange, good strange.

The smartest people I know get really excited when they learn or discover something strange, or odd, or weird.
