<I feel quite comfortable that my beliefs are founded in convincing evidence (convincing to me). >

My beliefs are largely dynamic and open to continuous testing. When someone came to me and told me she thought she had ESP. What do you suppose my response was? Well, I said, "That would be quite a talent if you had it. Test it. See what conditions allow you this ability and which don't. Use it cautiously, and test the results. Make sure it isn't a delusion. Delusions are more common than supernatural powers."

What if someone thought they were having prophetic dreams. My response: "All future events in human affairs start with an idea if they aren't random. Was it good? If so then, it is now possible because you thought it. But thinking it isn't enough. You must PLAN and ACT. It is through planning and directed effort that large boulders can be rolled. It helps if they are ready to move already and are perched on a hill. If it was bad, what does the dream mean? Is there symbolism? What is going on in your life? I think that we have an intuitive brain to connect the dots, but beware, just because they line up or are correlated doesn't mean that they are connected."
