I took a look at the recent trade Deficit numbers and the first thing that came to my mind is we, Americans, are buying less because our economy isn't so doing so great. I think this is a negative not a positive for our economy like the spinmeisters will try and tell us. With many companies around the world the US is still the largest consumer.

Good point...

If the world economies are expecting the U.S. to pull them out of their recessions by stepping up our buying they'll be disappointed in the short term... Unemployment remains above the troubling 400,000 area... The next few months comp retail sales reports of Walmart, Target and Sears will tell us a lot about the mind of the consumer... Recent consumer sentiment figures suggest we'll see lower than expected sales...
