EDS and the likes of PER and other smaller players like GIB KEA SYNT etc. are in basically two lines of business.. They run outsourced IT operations for companies and they are in new systems (whether it is custom developed or customized applications) development/implementation business.. all of them are manpower intensive and pretty hard business to be in.. If you fix bid your projects and if you miscalculate, you are screwed.. If you have customers who are not spending money or authorizing new projects, you are screwed with all those high priced consultants waiting to do something..

Not a pretty picture.. Looks like most companies are coasting on maintenance and minimum new dollar in terms of new projects.. One would have to wait and see if smaller players are doing better.. FWIW.. This is only applicable to consulting sector.. No idea where the likes of BEAS or BI companies may be.. Although most of them are not behaving all that well..
