Sam you are entitled to your opinions. That's one of the great things about this country. You're even entitled to interpreting the Constitution and voicing your conclusions. They're yours and they represent the sum total of what and who you are. Don't fret if everyone doesn't necessarily agree with you.

I can't help but smile at your wasting cyberspace objecting to the reference of "sidekick" while not responding to my objection of your specious but transparent argument by association... "If that was our policy once, then how can this be our policy now (what right has this administration to change failed policy?...)"

Having spent 24 years in the military and having a son who soon may depart for West Point, no one has less desire than I to be at war. I've been there and it stinks. The trouble is there is always some ass hole out there testing the limits of people's endurance.

For years our country's leaders have been trying to accommodate themselves with the devils they know to achieve some elusive balance of power in hopes of world order. Not only has it made for strange bedfellows but it has resulted in a violent and chaotic world. Countries make pacts with all the little Hitlers thinking somehow that these pieces of paper have meaning to them. They mean nothing!

Like you, I think there is value in the Constitution and I also believe that the current administration does. I also think that it is far more insightful than you give it credit as to the impact of its actions. I also believe that they know far better than you or I just what the danger of ignoring Saddam potentially is... Perhaps the danger warrants something more than lobbing a couple cruise missiles in their general direction.

This is what we do know. During Clinton's eight years Saddam frustrated and thumbed his nose at the world community by expelling the UN inspectors and selling his oil outside of UN sanctions. Argue what you will over the "whys" but its quite apparent that little of that revenue went to feeding the hungry or medicine for the sickly.

"Speaking softly" has always required carrying a big stick. When you have someone who is hard of hearing you have to raise your voice.
