"Persona means "actor's mask". It was coined by Jung to describe the public image people project in society. Society demands many roles of people. The public image is the face one wears in society."

Prior to this much, mobility, and electronic involvement; the typical person in our society had one general persona that most people related to and reinforced. Now it is quite normal to have a group of people who know you by one persona, which may be quite different than a persona you carry when moving in another group. The village society is becoming more and more rare. I have never accepted the idea that an on-line persona some how doesn't count. You are interacting with others, effecting and being effected by your involvement. I consider it all quite real.
