Well, I think my version was the only truthful way to put it.

Suppose in your case there were three med students in the same situation (maybe he got his friends involved, all great students in the same situation--hypothesize along with me) and one was the son of the governor. And he said "my son should get parole and be readmitted to med school but the other two identically situated students should go back to jail for another 10 years."

Is that the kind of governor you want?

That's what makes this so sad -- Bush is advocating strongly for severe penalties for everybody else. Everybody but mine. That's not, IMO, good parenting OR good governing.
