Harvey,

I wouldn't think it would replace PC's like some folks wish, but if it works and is cheap - it could be a whole new segment. However, I would think someone like Sony would buy up these little guys or make their own. Sony's really good at cheap (consumer) electronic stuff, but for them it may not add huge amounts to their bottom line. If they became as standard as a telephones are today, you'd find them at Kmart, on blue light special!!

Software would seem to be the big thing to differentiate these devices, I'm sure both NSCP and MSFT will get their share. However, Sony is no slouch at software either nor any dozen other big consumer electronic companies.

Should be an interesting device to watch mature, I could see Sony just dropping it into every TV. Flash memory cards on the side, probably made by Intel. Software, who knows, a TCP/IP socket is pretty simple and the Internet pretty well defined when it comes to email, DNS and simple HTML.
