I've been traveling but have seen Scott Ritter show up on many cable news programs...he seems to make a lot of sense to me. He claims he has been speaking out about the loss of integrity of the UN Inspection Process...He's not against war and neither am I...In the early 90's I supported the US Gulf War effort. Yet, at that time we had a broad multi-lateral coalition and a strong case for war...I don't see that this time around...War is not a game (even though some of the ChickenHawks think it is). It must be done for the right purpose. Ritter would claim that our Government is 'failing to run an honest prosecution of Saddam'...Why aren't we seeing all the facts about 'the clear and present danger' that we face right now...??...The Bush Administration claims its interested in Disarmament of Iraq but it really may be most interested in controlling the vast Iraqi oil reserves (I've read stories about how the former CIA Director - James Woolsey - already has plans about how to divide up the access to Iraq's oil after the regime change that he claims is absolutely essential).

Congress has failed to have a real debate about how to deal with Iraq...Just listen to the hearings today...most of the Democrats and Republicans seem ready to give Bush carte blanche...One Congressman summed it up well today...we have 2 approaches that seem to be emerging...

1) The Richard Perle Invade Now Approach

OR

2) The Powell UN Robust Inspection Regime with Enforcement

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I think there may be A LOT of unintended consequences of pre-emptively invading Iraq and engineering a regime change. I agree with Democratic Senator Kerry that war should be the last resort after working closely with the UN Security Counsel and exhausting all other possibilities. Republican Congressman Ron Paul is one of the few who is also asking some tough questions about war. I really feel we have no moral or legal authority to unilaterly invade Iraq and determine who will lead the country...I am in favor of something short of war that does deal with Saddam's weapons of mass destruction...Lets work with The UN and help them step up to the plate and prove that a new much more robust inspection regime can make a difference...If Saddam interferes this time then The U.S. and partners from The Security Counsel would have legal grounds to use military force against Iraq...JMHO.
