Stan, thank you. How is a strike of 15 in the money with the stock at 12? The rest of the story is also of interest...

>Overall, investors seem to favor calls on the security. Its Schaeffer's put/call open interest ratio has been heading south after peaking at the 0.96 level in early August. The current reading of 0.78 is lower than about 68 percent of those taken during the past year. In addition, the number of AMAT shares sold short declined by 11 percent over the most recent reporting period. The stock's short-interest ratio sits at a paltry 1.29, leaving little hope for a covering rally to kick the shares higher. One sign of skepticism comes from the 11 analysts who rate the shares a "hold," according to Zacks. Another 18 check in with "buy" ratings and none rate it a "sell."

AMAT's technical picture isn't as pretty as some options players might have hoped. The stock remains in a confirmed downtrend and continues to be capped by its declining 10-week moving average. AMAT has not enjoyed a weekly close above this trendline since mid-May. The shares have also made a clean break below potential long-term support at the 15 level after a brief rally above it in mid-August. This area provided a springboard to launch them higher in September 2001.
