Do you really think that is the only alternative?

I see it as impossible for the U.S. to keep all other nations at a technological level equivalent to the 1930's or 1940's. It is therefore inevitable that somewhere in the world new inventions will take place that may have uses as weapons. With this policy the difference will be that those will appear not in a world of interlocking dependancies, but in a world where all those other countries are really really pissed at us.
