Fronteer (FRG.V)confirms potential for high grade gold mineralization on Balmer Property

VANCOUVER, Sept. 10 /CNW/ - Fronteer Development Group Inc. (FRG-TSXV) is
pleased to announce that Phase 1 of its gold exploration program on the Balmer
Property in the Red Lake-Birch Uchi Belt is completed. Results to date are
very encouraging and have confirmed that the controls on gold mineralization
on its land package are analogous to those at the high-grade Red Lake and
Campbell mines, located 60 kilometres to the west.

Fronteer has received particular encouragement from the Cariboo Vein,
which returned two high-grade gold sections grading 14.8 grams gold per tonne
over 0.47 metres and 20.8 grams gold per tonne over 0.55 metres. Airborne
magnetic data along with soil geochemistry results have outlined a number of
other structural zones parallel to the Cariboo vein that are characterized by
similar elevated values of gold, arsenic, bismuth, and tellurium in soils.

These features indicate that the Cariboo vein may be one of several
mineralized structures related to a broad zone of deformation and fluid flow.

Of particular significance is the fact that these mineralized zones on the
Balmer property are of the same generation and orientation as those that host
the high-grade gold mineralization at the Red Lake and Campbell Mines.

Forty-three saw-cut channel samples were taken across the Cariboo Vein.

From east to west, trench results are described as follows:

- In trench No. 1 the quartz-carbonate vein is exposed continuously for
35 metres along strike. Eighteen saw cut channel samples were collected
across the vein at approximately 1.5 metre spacing, returning an
average grade of 14.8 grams gold per tonne over an average width of
0.47 metres (Table 1).

- In trench No. 2, the quartz-carbonate vein is exposed for 13 metres
along strike. Thirteen saw cut samples were collected across the vein
at approximately 1 metre intervals. The vein along this trench returned
an average grade of 20.8 grams gold per tonne over an average width of
0.53 metres (Table 2).

- In trench No. 3, the quartz vein is exposed continuously for 7.4
metres. Seven saw cut channel samples were collected across the vein at
approximately 1.5 metres spacing. The vein along this trench returned
an average grade of 0.84 grams gold per tonne over an average width of
0.76 metres (Table 3).

Fronteer is currently prioritizing targets from its Balmer Property and
is evaluating exploration results from three of its other properties in the
AurionGold joint venture.

Fronteer is the largest landholder in the eastern extension of the Red
Lake Greenstone belt and controls over 56,000 acres of prospective ground. Of
this ground, 46,861 acres are under option to AurionGold Limited (AOR-ASX) of
Australia (including the Cariboo Vein), and 10,848 acres are under option to
Red Lake Resources Inc. (RL-TSXV). Fronteer is the operator of both joint
ventures, which are being funded by AurionGold and Red Lake Resources
respectively.

Fronteer's corporate mission is to become a pre-eminent mineral
exploration company focused on opportunities in underexplored mineral belts
that have the potential to yield world-class deposits.
