...outrageous level of coverage of the Catholic Church recently in order to maeuver for advantage in the voucher sweepstakes. The little brownshirts and junior snitch brigade will be easier to manipulate in the evangelical/fundamentalist environment.

As a former Catholic [now agnostic], I think the Church's behavior is repugnant and shameful. Deserving of the coverage. And a number of family members, still Catholic, seem to agree.

Though I will give a word of thanks for some of the good nuns during elementary school. They taught us to look at history from different perspectives, e.g., Benedict Arnold. After giving the traditional education on Benedict Arnold, the nun then spent some discussion time speaking about Benedict Arnold from a British perspective. It was a different view to say the least.

Think of the Boston Tea Party for a moment, branded in our memory......during the 1700's tea wasn't a commodity, it was expensive as hell. It was locked up by the wealthy, so the servants wouldn't steal it. Servants were allowed to take the used tea, dry it and sell it to the upper middle class.....can you imagine today, the people rising up in protest against taxes and dumping truffles and saffron as a protest against high taxes? Something about that just doesn't seem to make sense.
